New York Aquarium
Where Ocean Life Meets City Life

Located on the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk of Brooklyn, the New York Aquarium is the oldest continually operating aquarium in the United States. The New York Aquarium devotes 14 acres of space to over 260 species of aquatic wildlife. The New York Aquarium is part of a system of five zoos and aquaria in New York City that are all operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society. The aquarium’s mission is to save wildlife and preserve wild areas of the world through conservation and education. The institution raises awareness about the importance of ocean wildlife through events and exhibits held at the aquarium.

The New York Aquarium holds year-round special programs for young kids and families to introduce them to the animals and teach them about the importance of conservation. The aquarium houses a 4D theater where movies screenings become a full-body experience. Multiple indoor and outdoor exhibits at the aquarium help visitors and tourists mesh into culture of aquatic wildlife. The Aquatheater is another great place for visitors to witness  amazing the creatures of the sea through interactive shows.

The aquarium provides family-friendly activities around the park where kids can learn about sea animals and the beach. Visitors can also watch the unique feeding habits of the penguins and sea otters of the park during their feeding times. The aquarium is a great place for groups to visit as the park also provides special tours and classes.

Just like a zoo, an aquarium provides visitors with the unique opportunity to connect with wildlife. The New York Aquarium is special in that it teaches this in an urban setting. In addition to teaching about wildlife, the aquarium provides visitors with the chance to learn about their water systems. Both are vital to the health of local communities and the aquarium helps visitors realize that.
