The Tribeca Film Festival, created by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, and Craig Hatkoff in 2002, has quickly emerged to become one of the most dominant annual film festivals in the world. Founded in the wake of 9/11, the Tribeca Film Festival has made it its mission to assist in the restoration of lower Manhattan’s prosperity and vitality. Drawing millions of viewers and celebrities each year, while simultaneously earning plenty of critical praise, the Tribeca Film Festival has clearly been an outstanding success in this pursuit. But its popularity shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. It’s housed in a city that is, after all, one of the world’s leading film-making centers.
