Inspired by the flavors of the mountainous coastal region that blurs the lines of demarcation between Spain and France, Ortzi is a restaurant and wine bar that provides diners with an alluring and intimate experience centered around Chef Jose Garces’ vision of Basque dishes.
Ortzi is one of Midtown’s best kept secrets, a hidden gem inside the LUMA Hotel, by James Beard award winner Chef Jose Garces. At first glance, you’ll notice the high ceilings with an array of lights. In the bar and lounge, the small but inviting space makes it easy for guests to settle in quickly and wind down with a drink or two. Ortzi is known for its beloved Gin & Tonic collection, taking Spain’s favorite cocktail and adding a unique style of its own. Beautifully presented, it’s almost too pretty to sip.
Past the bar and lounge is Ortzi’s main dining room. Its romantic setting creates a cozy ambiance for guests looking to enjoy an intimate evening with friends or a romantic night out for two. Mirroring Spain’s custom of small plates, Ortzi’s menu of traditional pintxos, crudos and paellas are anything but ordinary. Dishes such as savory Albóndigas (meatballs) and flavorful Carabineros (prawns) give guests an authentic Basque experience without having to leave NYC.
Service begins with breakfast at 7am and is available through post-theater specials from 9pm to close. Customers both old and new have grown to love happy hour and pre-theater dining at Ortzi, easily making it one of the most bustling times at the restaurant. For private parties, Ortzi can cater to all types of events from corporate receptions to birthday celebrations. Planning a party has never been easier!
Conveniently nestled between Times Square, Bryant Park and the Theater District, Ortzi provides an authentic Basque experience right here in the heart of NYC. Ortzi is located at 120 West 41st Street between 6th and Broadway, and is open seven days a week.
