Sunset Park
Get a Taste of Asian-American Culture
Sunset Park is quite the cultural melting pot. This neighborhood is home to the first Brooklyn Chinatown community; located near 7th Avenue, it includes the Fei Long Market- a mecca for culinary enthusiasts. This is probably one of the only areas in the country where one can grab an Irish Lager, go next door for enchiladas, and then have Asian mochi for dessert. But perhaps the most famous thing about Sunset Park is the vast Green-Wood Cemetery. It is a designated landmark where notables from crime bosses to Civil War soldiers have been laid to rest. Guided tours of the beautiful, quiet grounds are available.
Industry City is home to many artisanal shops and food places, while Kawaii enthusiasts and anime lovers can pick up a special gift in Sweety Shop. This store is perfect for grabbing a unique gift with that trademark “cute” look.
Though it may be a popular hot spot, East Harbor Seafood Palace is the go to place for great dim sum. Diners can enjoy the full experience of authentic Cantonese style steamed dishes and treats pulled along the rolling carts in the restaurant.
