Midtown Manhattan MACY's, Rockefeller Center, Diamond District, Trump Tower and so much more! Midtown New York encompasses many attractions and smaller districts of New York. While midtown does not have official boundaries, it is generally referred to as 59th Street to 34th Street from the East River to the Hudson River. Some areas midtown encompasses include Theater Row, Hell’s Kitchen, Times Square, Murray Hill and Herald Square. Times Square boasts famous Broadway shows and attractions such as Gulliver’s Gate, the National Geographic Center, Madame Tussauds, Ripleys, and other family friendly locations. Further north is Rockefeller Center including the NBC studios where one can watch live NBC morning broadcasts. You can also take an NBC Studio Tour, experience the Rink at Rockefeller Center, and visit Top of the Rock Observatory. Across the street is Radio City Music Hall where one can take a wonderful backstage tour. Bordering Rockefeller Center is the famous Diamond District – a solid block of jewelry merchants. Continuing north from there, a visitor will find landmarks such as St Patrick’s Cathedral, MoMA, Carnegie Hall, Trump Tower and the southern end of Central Park. Heading on to midtown East, take pictures of the Chrysler Building, United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, and the famous Empire State Building. Built in only 410 days, the Empire State Building boasts 2 observatories and has been the site of many movies. For a unique experience, the Museum of Sex is just a few blocks down from the ESB. Walking west from the ESB, you will quickly run into the world renown MACY’s. This is the flagship store covering an entire block and home to the MACY’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The area was also known as the Garment District in the first half of the 1900’s. A bit further west is Madison Square Garden, known as MSG, and the James Farley Post Office. Madison Square Garden locally referred to as “The Garden”, which is built on top of Pennsylvania Station, is home to the Knicks and hosts many concerts and events in its newly renovated building.
