The Rhythm of New York

The STOMP stage fills with energizing beats created with matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters and more! The show blends dance, music and the theatrical performance together into one exiting rhythm.

The off-Broadway show Stomp opened in 1994 and is running at the East Village Orpheum Theatre on 2nd Avenue. It is a joyful, original and wordless show with an 8-members cast. Together they create beautiful music with found objects such as wooden poles, hammer handles and even a kitchen sink!
There’s no traditional narrative here, instead household and industrial objects are given life as musical instruments. It is a visual comedy combined with exiting movements. You can expect a journey through sound and a celebration of the everyday life. All communications between characters take place through dance and drums creating and exiting atmosphere. It is like a party hosted by fascinating personalities!
Stomp is a kids-friendly show, allowing children from the age of 4 to enjoy the humor and fun taking place in this theatre. The show includes some audience interactions but no-one is singled out.Of course the audiences love Stomp and have left reviews like “one of the best things I have ever seen” and “the BEST show ever.”The show runs for approximately 1 hour an 45 minutes without an intermission. Afterwards, try out your luck at the stage door if you want the cast’s autographs! There are three easy way to purchase tickets: it can be done online, one the phone by calling (800) 982-2787 or in person at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office located at 126 Second Avenue. Choose between regular and premium tickets. There’s a limited number of exclusive seats that are set aside with the best views of the stage. They are only a few frets away from the show and have the best potential for cast interactions. The seats are also kid-friendly and designed for the ideal family experience.
