Sushirrito offers an Asian-Latin fusion concept, combining the taste of traditional sushi with the convenience and fullness of a burrito. This simple, but unique idea first began with their initial 2011 opening in San Francisco. Its founder, Peter Yen, was craving sushi as he was working in Downtown San Francisco, but did not have time to sit down to eat it. Later, in search of a solution, he invented the first sushirrito. Now he could enjoy sushi while on the go, and with the opening of Sushirrito — everyone else can too.
The initial restaurant was met with immediate success. It even caught the attention of social media stars, bloggers, and media outlets such as WSJ, CNN, and Buzzfeed; all of which were attracted to its innovative concept. To meet growing demand, Yen decided to open up several other locations — turning his simple idea into a successful chain. Today, Sushirrito restaurants offer its portable, made-to-order, and affordable sushi design to thousands of New Yorkers. You can find them in its two locations: the Flatiron District and Midtown by Bryant Park.
