The Original Sushi Burrito
Sushirrito New York

Sushirrito offers an Asian-Latin fusion concept, combining the taste of traditional sushi with the convenience and fullness of a burrito. This simple, but unique idea first began with their initial 2011 opening in San Francisco. Its founder, Peter Yen, was craving sushi as he was working in Downtown San Francisco, but did not have time to sit down to eat it. Later, in search of a solution, he invented the first sushirrito. Now he could enjoy sushi while on the go, and with the opening of Sushirrito — everyone else can too.

The initial restaurant was met with immediate success. It even caught the attention of social media stars, bloggers, and media outlets such as WSJ, CNN, and Buzzfeed; all of which were attracted to its innovative concept. To meet growing demand, Yen decided to open up several other locations — turning his simple idea into a successful chain. Today, Sushirrito restaurants offer its portable, made-to-order, and affordable sushi design to thousands of New Yorkers. You can find them in its two locations: the Flatiron District and Midtown by Bryant Park.

Their menu offers several inventive and creative options. Each fuses traditional Japanese sushi with that of Latin American cuisine. For example, sushirritos contain ingredients like ginger guacamole, wasabi mayo, and cilantro pepper sauce within classic sushi options such as shrimp tempura. The most popular item on the menu is the The Geisha’s Kiss (hand-caught yellowfin tuna, tamago, piquillo peppers, lotus chips, namasu cucumber, green leaf lettuce, ginger guac, and yuzu tobiko).

Sushirrito offers a creative and welcomed spin on the classic rice and seaweed design. For sushi lovers, burrito lovers, and especially fans of both — Sushirrito demands tasting.
