Red Rooster is located in the heart of Harlem and serves food that celebrates the diversified traditional cuisine in the neighborhood. The name originates from the legendary speakeasy that has attracted great minds such as Adam Clayton Powell Jr, Nat King Cole and James Baldwin. The restaurant is co-created by Andrew Chapman and Marcus Samuelsson. They both wanted to open an eatery that would have a positive impact not only on the neighborhoods unique cuisine, but that would also benefit the community as a whole.

The aim of Red Rooster is to create a story with the people that visit the restaurant, it serves as a platform for local artists, musicians and culinary talents. The staff is hired from within the community, and the co-owners want to inspire better eating by offering cooking classes and buying local products.
The award-winning Swedish-raised chef was the youngest chef to ever receive two three-star ratings from The New York Times. He is also the winner of Top Chef Masters Season 2 and was also a guest chef for the first State Dinner of the Obama administration
