As one of the three NHL teams within the New York/New Jersey area, the New York Islanders is a New York City icon. This hockey team had been based in Long Island since its start in 1972. But after playing at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for 42 years, the team moved to its current space, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in 2015. With over 40 years of history, the NY Islanders have become a NYC staple.
Their colors royal blue, orange, and white spark tremendous pride in New Yorkers and hockey fans alike. Eight former members of the Islanders have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, many of whom were members of all four Cup-winning teams.
