Written entirely by one man, this semi-historical musical presents the Founding Fathers through a multicultural lens and with an unconventional style of songs. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, King George III, and of course Alexander Hamilton take center stage in a story about freedom, love, and how history is made. Playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, it was the winner of both the 2016 Best Musical Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The most noteworthy aspects of Hamilton are its musical style and cast, both of which are diversified and modern. It is truly a show for anyone who appreciates unconventional musical styles and new ways of looking at American history. The original cast of the piece featured its creator, Lin Manuel-Miranda, as well as Renee Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs, and Leslie Odom Jr., all of whom earned Tony Awards. Famous songs from the show include “My Shot,” “Satisfied,” and “It’s Quiet Uptown.”
