4 Best Beer Spots in New York City - Go Visit NYC

1. Heartland Brewery & Chophouse

Located in the heart of Times Square, Heartland Brewery & Chophouse is one of the best steakhouses in New York City. Due to its central location, you can have a great meal before or after a Broadway show

The restaurant has an interesting, historic atmosphere which includes pre-Prohibition beer artifacts. Some of the artifacts include beer trays, steins, and back-bar sculptures. There are also three large, separate dining rooms for private parties and events.

All of their unique beers are to die for!  They include:

Kolsch Lite: Pale yellow in color and tastes of Noble hops and German pilsner malt with a crisp finish.

Cornhusker Lager: Crisp and smooth, our golden lager is crafted from Midwestern malts and flaked sweet corn. This is our most refreshing beer, with a mellow maltiness and a light, clean finish.

Lavender Wheat: Belgian Style Wit that expresses the perfect balance of Hallertau hops, pilsner malt & wheat. This ale has a distinct aroma of freshly cultivated lavender, ginger & lemon.

Along with world-class beers, Heartland Brewery has delicious food selections.

Some of their specialties include the NY Strip Steak Sandwich, the Heartland Buffalo Burger, the Buffalo Chicken Cobb Salad and Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna.

The restaurant is located at 127 W 43rd St, New York, NY 10036. You can check out their website.

2. HB Burger

Named one of the Top 5 Burgers in NYC by Nick Solares of “A Hamburger Today” and “Serious Eats,” HB Burger features comfortable and spacious seating, wrought-iron chandeliers, two bars and a compelling menu.

Choose from a series of specialty burgers, including tuna, bison, veggie, crab, and Kobe beef. There are also great salads and some “Must Try” items that range from fried pickles to Pastrami Reuben Spring rolls and fresh-cut Idaho fries.

The extensive beverage and dessert menu features house beers and wines, “hard” shakes, homemade sodas on tap, the world’s smallest hot fudge sundae ($1.95), shakes, malts, ice cream sodas, egg creams and more. Their kid’s menu is sure to please even the most finicky eaters.

Some of their beers include:

Red Rooster Ale: Caramel and Munich malts give our flavorful red ale a rich toffee and roasted nut character; topped off with a healthy addition of American hops.

Indiana Pale Ale: IPA’s are popular for their zesty hop spice and rich malt character. HB’s does not disappoint! With a deep golden color, full malt flavor, and aggressive bittering hops, this unique ale is one to enjoy.

Farmer Jon’s Oatmeal Stout: This hearty, creamy stout has hints of espresso and elegant dark chocolate sweetness. Great American Beer Festival Medal Winner Gold 1997, Bronze 1995, Silver 1999.

Flatiron Hall is a downtown restaurant with a cool Beer Cellar that has two beautiful bars.

The main bar is from the Commodore Hotel in downtown Manhattan circa 1870, with antique leaded glass arches.  Fun fact: this cellar bar was a speakeasy during the prohibition.

Space is a tribute to the Student Art League of NY and there are murals, paintings & sketches throughout. It is furnished with ornate lighting & dozens of variations of antique flatirons including some fueled by coal, kerosene, and gasoline.

The beer steins which adorn the restaurant are only a small part of Flatiron Hall’s collection. They feature their own special beers on tap, making it one of the best places to sample craft beer in NYC. Interestingly, most of their special cocktails are derived from a bartending manual of a local bartender’s great uncle.

Some beers include:

Golden Lager: Smooth Mellow Maltiness, Light, Clean Finish 5% ABV

Black Stout:  Light Stout, Rich Malt, and Chocolate 6% ABV

Grape Expectations AleNY State Concord Grapes, Dry Finish, Strong Grape Aroma. 7.2% ABV

They have menus for lunch, dinner, and late night guests with bar-friendly variations on classics like Sashimi Tacos and Beer Cellar Nachos with a wide selection of salads, sandwiches, and entrees. The Pastrami Reuben Spring roll is unforgettable!

With large communal tables as well as nooks and crannies for a bit of privacy with someone special, the hall has something for everyone. In addition, the downstairs Beer Cellar has a relaxed atmosphere that can accommodate larger groups.
