Whether you appreciate the romantic allure of the holiday, or detest the garlands of pink in front of every stop window you walk past, Valentine’s Day undoubtedly monopolizes the dinner spots, florists, and typical getaways of the New York Area. If you’re looking to not wait in line, here are a few of our own Ernie’s recommendations for a cool, alternative Valentine’s Day in NYC!
Spend Valentine’s Day with your Dog!
Most places don’t allow dogs to be your valentine’s day date, but D Pet Hotels in Chelsea is hosting a mixer with dogs AND their owners from 8 to 10 pm. Find someone who loves your dog as much as you do, or at the very least, spend the evening petting cute dogs while drinking wine and eating chocolate. (This is probably what we’re going to do.)
Here’s the link to the event below, tickets are only $15!
Museum of Sex
This notorious museum actually does Valentines Day passes for the week! Learn about the history and future of sex with your partner at your side— or just go alone! This museum is fun, original and has a lot of interesting and fun exhibits that allow members to interact with their environments.
