Whether you are a part of the large Irish community in New York City or just passing through, one thing is for sure; New York’s variety of St. Patrick’s day festivities will have you feeling anything but green.

March 17, 2018 marks a celebration of Irish culture around the world to commemorate the feast day of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. He escaped a monastery to convert to Christianity and spread it throughout Ireland in the late 4th century AD. Patrick was a hero to Christians in Ireland and has been celebrated there every year since his death. It was not until the mid-1700s that Patrick’s beliefs were spread across the Atlantic Ocean and embraced and celebrated in America. What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s efforts and Irish heritage than in New York, a melting pot of cultures that are embraced with parades, parties, and people galore.
