The Met Cloisters Fuentidueña Chapel marks the eve of the feast day of Saint Gregory the Great—the papal namesake of Gregorian chant—with this scholarly program of early music. The Axion Estin Chanters, who are experts in the Byzantine repertoire, and Pomerium, offer up sonorous Greek chants and western hymns dedicated to the saint, who enjoyed equal veneration in the East and West. This enriching and enlightening experience is sure to please audiences with its soothing sounds.
